Our History

Sixty Years

Chantry Vets has been providing veterinary care to the pets of West Yorkshire for more than 60 years. Initially based in Wakefield Town Centre, we have expanded into one of the area’s largest Small Animal practices.

Hospital

We have 7 branches, supported by our main Hospital at Brindley Way, Wakefield. We initially moved from our headquarters at Gills Yard, Wakefield, to Batley Road, Alverthorpe in 2012, but later outgrew this site also.  We opened our flagship purpose-built hospital with state-of-the-art facilities in March 2022 to provide greater levels of service to our customers and their beloved pets.  Our Gills Yard and Alverthorpe surgeries now provide first-opinion services to the local community in easily accessible locations.

The practice gained hospital status in 2013; the highest level of accreditation available from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).  Every four years the practice undergoes rigorous inspections across all our premises.

Awards

We are proud to have achieved the Investors in the Environment Bronze Award in 2022, demonstrating our practice's commitment to sustainability and the environment.

In 2023 we also achieved ISFM Gold Status for our facilities and provisions for our feline patients.

Community Engagement

We are proud to have a strong community focus and sponsor many local events, sports clubs, and charitable organisations.  We have strong links to local schools and provide visits and educational talks to children, helping to encourage awareness of animal welfare and the veterinary services we provide.
